Receipts totaled 2150 head. A full house of buyers were on hand from Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and New Mexico and saw the market steady in comparison to the last female sale on January 26th with demand very good on the younger and fleshier females. The better pairs sold from $975 to $1280 and the thinner, crossbred or more solid mouth pairs ranged mostly from $825 to $975. The bred cows brought $775 to $1100 depending on pregnancy, flesh and age. The bred heifers brought from $700 to $950 except for one set of middle bred registered Black Maine heifers at $1175 and a set of longbred Tigerstripe F-1's bringing $1320. A choice offering of open heifers were offered with the bigger heifers ready to breed selling from $600 to $820 with one set of open Black Gold Brangus at $920. The younger and lighter open heifers brought from $500 to $620. The next replacement female sale will be the 7th Annual "Best of the Best" on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 10:00am. |
