Receipts totaled 2678 head. The demand was good on the replacement females that were five or younger and had a lot of eye appeal with the balance of the females selling on a more uneven tone and weaker demand depending on kind, flesh and age. Buyers were represented from Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. The better pairs sold from $1000 up to $1300 with the less fleshy young pairs and solid mouth pairs going from $800 to $1025. The real fancy bred cows that were fall and winter calving went for $1040 to $1340. The balance of the fall, winter and spring calving young cows brought from $775 up to $1050. The solid mouth bred cows ranged from $650 up to $900. The bred heifer market was a little uneven with the fancier heifers to calve this fall, winter and spring going for $950 up to $1140. The bred heifers that were carrying less flesh and had a little less eye appeal went from $775 to $950. A limited number of open heifers were on hand but sold from $610 to $730 with one set of Black Simmental and Simi/Angus going fro $940. The next cow and heifer replacement sale will be Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 10:00am in San Saba. |
