Receipts totaled 1907 at the 8th
Annual Best of the Best Replacement Female Sale.
Demand was good with buyers represented
all across Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Oklahoma
and Missouri.
Over 450 pair were offered with most
being first calf and sold from $1100 up to
$1550.
A few pair that were carrying less flesh
went from $1000 to $1100.
Close to 160 bred cows were offered with
most being short bred for fall calving and
brought from $900 to $1275.
Over 270 bred heifers were offered with a
good many fall calvers and sold from $850 up to
$1150 depending on kind and size.
A little more than 600 choice open and
exposed heifers sold in good demand with the
feeder price setting a basis this past week with
yearling heifers bringing $1 or better per pound
weighing 750 pounds or better.
Most of the open heifers that sold were
ready for the bulls and brought from $700 up to
$930.
The lighter heifers ranged from $600 to
$700.
The next Replacement Female sale will be
Saturday, May 1, 2010 in San Saba.
