Jordan Cattle Auction Special Replacement Female Sale Saturday, August 25, 2001 in San Saba, Texas |

| Receipts totaled 3561. Buyers from Arkansas to Arizona were present at San Saba this past Saturday to purchase replacement females. Oklahoma and Louisiana also were well represented at the pay window at the close of the sale. A wide area of Central, Northeast and Southeast Texas all the way to the coast took some young replacements home with them also. Dry conditions in the North, South and West Texas areas have not been favorable to the bred heifer market. Most pairs, bred cows and heifers sold steady to $100.00 lower compared to our last replacement sale held in Mason on August 4th. Demand was good to moderate. Most ranchers in these areas are just needing more rain to insure they will make some grass within the next 60 days. Too many areas have just had spotted showers and not that real general rain that is needed to maintain a strong market. All areas of the United States are in agreement that cattle numbers are down and that is one thing that has held the market as good as it has. We just need that general rain across so many areas. Thanks to the buyers that have had some decent moisture conditions and purchased cattle at this sale. | ||
